Neil Simon Comedy

The Port Polson Players are honoring “The Master of Broadway Comedy,” Neil Simon, who passed away last August, with his comedic masterpiece The Sunshine Boys. The show, playing July 5 – 14, was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play, with critics saying, “The show glitters like fireworks on the Fourth of July.”

Lewis and Clark, The Sunshine Boys, were a successful Vaudeville comedy duo. During the later years of their 43-year run, they stopped speaking to each other. Clark, now an old man struggling with memory loss, reluctantly accepts an offer to reunite the team for a CBS special on the history of comedy. Laughter abounds as they recreate their classic Doctor Sketch, which ends in chaos. The play’s wrap-up is pure Simon, mixing humor, wisdom, and poignancy.

Tonight On Wild Horse Island

Thursday July 18 – Sunday Aug. 4
Musical Comedy By John Mercer

“Wild Horse Island” opens on Thursday July 18 & plays thru Sunday the first week
After that, it plays two more weeks, Wednesdays thru Sundays until Aug. 4
Curtain times are 8:00 Wednesday thru Saturday with Sunday Matinees at 2:00

Mission Valley attorney and playwright John Mercer wrote the musical comedy Tonight On Wild Horse Island to honor Polson’s late Jean Turnage and Ronald B. MacDonald of Butte, who worked together to make the island a state park. The show brings a tri-generational family together on Wild Horse Island to celebrate the life and death of the family patriarch. During their time on the island, Gramma Ruth tries every trick she can think of to bring the family’s discord to a peaceful resolution, right up to the surprise twist ending. At once rambunctious, warm, and very witty, Tonight On Wild Horse Island plays July 18 – August 4.
